Step-by-step instructions for the installation of your router

Each router is supplied with a network cable (1 metre) and a power adapter.

In addition, you will find in each box: 

•    A Router USB Software Installation CD. You only need this CD if you wish to connect a USB device to your router.
•    Installation guide.
•    Network login details (keep these in a safe place!).
•    Sitecom Cloud Security information guide (only for routers with this functionality).
•    CE Conformity document.

Connect the router to your modem

Work through the following steps (2 through 4) to connect your router correctly to your modem.

2: Disconnect the modem from the mains

•    Unplug the power adapter of the modem from the mains socket. This resets the modem and once connected, the router always gains access to the modem.
•    Connect the router's power adapter to the router.

3: Connect the router to the modem

•    Connect the router to the modem using the network cable (UTP cable). Use the modem's LAN port and the router's WAN port. Do this whilst the modem and router are NOT connected to the mains. 
•    Reconnect the modem to the mains. Wait a few minutes until the modem has completely restarted.

4: Connect the router to the mains

•    Now connect the router to the mains. 
•    Switch the router on by setting the on/off button to "I".
•    Wait 2 minutes. The modem will now send an access address (IP address) to the router so that the router can access the Internet.

Work through the following steps (5 through 9) to connect your Windows or Mac PC to your router.

•    Double-click on the wireless networks icon in the bottom-right-hand side of the taskbar.

•    Double-click on the wireless networks icon in the top-right-hand side of the taskbar.

6: Select wireless network

•    Look for the router network name located on the bottom of your router or in the network login details flyer. 
•    Select the network from the list of available networks by clicking on the network.


•    Go to step 2C: Enter security key.

7: Enter security key (Windows)

•    Enter the WPA2 password shown on the bottom of the router or in the ‘network login details flyer’, in the field next to “Security Key”. 
•    Then click on ‘OK’. 
•    The router will now set up a secure connection between the modem and the Internet.

8: Enter security key (Mac)

•    Enter the WPA2 password shown on the bottom of the router or in the ‘network login details flyer’, in the field next to "Password". 
•    Then click on ‘Join’. 
•    The router will now set up a secure connection between the modem and the Internet.

9: Check wireless connection

Windows PC

•    Once you have a connection to the router, the 5 bars will colour white and the yellow star will disappear. You now have access to wireless Internet.  

Mac

•    Once you have a connection to the router, the icon indicating the wireless Internet signal will turn black. You now have access to wireless Internet.

Done! You now have a working Internet connection

10: Your router is ready!
